Heart Murmur

A heart murmur is the sound of irregular blood flow in the heart, typically caused by abnormal closure or opening of a heart valve or a hole in the heart.

What Are The Causes Of A Heart Murmur?

The heart contains four valves, each of which can have its own potential defects. Generally, murmurs may result from valve stiffening (stenosis) or leakage (regurgitation). Congenital abnormalities, such as heart holes or structural irregularities, can also lead to murmurs. Additionally, viral or bacterial infections can damage the heart and contribute to murmur development.
