Essex and Wales collide when Gavin and Stacey fall in love, bringing their friends, family and luggage with them Wales. Essex. The Wests (Stacey’s family) live in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile northwest of Barry. In series 3, both Bryn and Gavin. cars have completely different registration numbers to the previous series. Gavin’s Blue Saxo has been changed from a T-reg (MY 1999) to an X-reg (MY 2000). Bryn’s Green Picasso has changed from CV02 (MY 2002, Registered in Cardiff) to HV54 (MY 2004, Registered in Portsmouth). They are obviously different cars.. I have to say I can’t quite understand the previous reviewer as I think I’m on a different planet to everyone else and I felt compelled to clarify. Gavin & Stacey is one of the best comedies I’ve seen in years. It has a wonderful cast and a brilliant script written by Ruth Jones and James Cordon. The show is set around Gavin (a boy from Essex) and Stacey (a receptionist from Barry Island) who start their relationship over the phone while they’re at work. The feedback to the series has been so good that a second series has already been ordered.
